Mhhh, this is looking delicious! But stop, don´t taste!
These awesome sweets are not real: In fact they are crocheted toys. These low-calorie tartlets, which are popular among children all over the world, are made in Småland in Sweden, home of famous writer Astrid Lindgren.
The woman behind this great idea is Emelie Högstedt, a Swede who is living in Zürich. Besides cakes and cupcakes, she is selling food as hamburgers, tomatoes, eggs, caviar and beverages in her online shop “Swedishness” and also sneakers for babys – all crocheted of course!
How did she come up with the idea? The mother of a small boy told us in the interview.
…
This is so sweet! A little house, which is big enough for all the beloved toys, a desk and a little kids-kitchen. Didn´t we all dream of something like this when we were children?
…
Yes, we admit: We are commercial-addicts. Grown up with the tv and games as “Guess the advertisement” we are somehow grown togehter with many brands. We and the products: It´s a lifelong love!
…
Gosh, it´s not so easy: Your best friend´s daughter is turning four and you don´t know what to give as a present. A Barbie doll? She already has ten! A cuddly toy? There is no space left for one in the bed.
It´s hard to know what to do: We recommend Heike Makatsch and Der Hund Marie alias Max Schröder, Makatsch´s husband and father of her two children. The actress and the musician recorded it 2009 and it combines the most beautiful songs for children. ‘Der Kuckuck und der Esel’, ‘Wenn ich ein Vöglein wär…’ and ‘Der Mond ist aufgegangen’. Furthermore there are drawings from Tomi Ungerer and all lyrics.
Children and parents will both like this music and we love it: A really successfull family-project and a wonderful gift for children.

Mummy, this does not taste good!!”
“Dad, this is bah, I do not eat this.”
Then they are starting to cry.
Yes, these sentences can exasperate mums and dads and make them wanna shout out loud and loose the appetite. Amanda Grant must probably had similar experiences when she decided to write cookbooks for children. The idea: let the children cook to make them eat. With recipes appropriate for children she wants to ameliorate the mood at the dining table.
And this works perfectly with pizza, pasta, lasagna and bruschetta.
And then, hopefully, after a few weeks of practise in the kitchen your son or daughter soon maybe says: “Mummy, dad, food is ready!”
